"Our agents alerted us to a condo that was not on the market yet which we subsequently purchased. We verbally discussed comps in the area but it was a slow time of year, November when we were looking. I felt the price was fair but my partner felt like we should have offered less than we did and compromise somewhere in the middle. Overall, we are satisfied with the negotiated reduction of price and half of the assessment. In the end, the owner completed needed work at her expense. Our realtors sent us comps on new listings comparable to our place that were already thousands of dollars more, so ultimately we are confident that the condo purchase reflected the true value of the place.
