Lay of the Land a story of Corey Kirkpatrick
Friendly, instinctive, capable, ethical, and inspiring, are a few adjectives that describe Corey Kirkpatrick. Having grown up in New Mexico he has always been an outdoorsman. From skiing to mountain biking, fly fishing, river rafting, survival training, and avalanche rescue, to coaching the Santa Fe Ski Team and mountain biking programs, Corey has a natural instinct for the great outdoors and teaching. He has been a coach for the Ski Team for ten years and his tailored method of coaching has proven successful. Through his experience with remote backpacking and mountain climbing, he learned survival skills and intense self-reliance. He has always had a feeling for the land which started with his love of maps, his fascination with aerial views while flying with his father, and his extensive hiking and love for the mountains. He has a natural sense for topography and terrain and its ‘best use’. Over the past years, his wife was a vet tech to the area’s top equine veterinarian. Through that relationship, Corey has gotten to know many ranchers in the local equestrian community.
Corey also studied at the Culinary Institute, cooking at such Santa Fe favorites as La Casa Sena. He was the bartender at La Choza for five years and opened Santa Fe’s first “speakeasy” bar serving hundreds of guests each evening, creating an extensive network of friends and connections. From his years in the hospitality business, Corey senses what people want and understands their needs. Adding to this, Corey has worked for many years building homes and installing solar hot water & electric systems. He is familiar with materials and processes and is also certified in solar system design and installation. Corey is a leader in real estate bringing his network, hands-on knowledge, and love of the land to our company.
